Day at the Aquarium

Our next trip on my husbands Stay-cation was a trip to the Aquarium. They enjoyed seeing the fishes and checking out some of the fun spots for them to actually touch and play. It was a nice day out of the heat and we even got to see a lot of the animals being fed.
Having fun driving the boat
They are getting to be so cute together.
He was a little taller than the Gentoo Penguin
And she was a head shorter than an Emperor Penguin.
He is such a good dad. He holds them both so they can see. He loves them and they know it. In return they adore him.
Our last thing we saw at the Aquarium was their new superhero animal exhibit. To be honest I really didn't get it. But they did a good job keeping it comic book designed. Basically they showed the different ways these animals adapted and survived. This snake has infrared vision.
And these fish never leave this stage of metamorphosis and are able to walk on land and swim in water.

Zoorasic Park

The Local Zoo around here has been pretty fun this year. They decided to go Prehistoric and brought some animated dinosaurs to the park. So when my husband took a week off of work we decided to have a stay-cation and enjoy the local Excitement. So we started the week by going to a cheap movie and the next thing on the list was the zoo.
Never fear though there were dinosaurs in the park the animals were safe and we still got to see some of the animals. Here is the baby elephant a couple years old.
We even got to see this ladybug checking out the zoo.
Back to the ferocious looking dinosaurs.
We even rode a dinosaur.
These wooden horses were very tame.
Looking at her you would think it was a cold day but no she just wanted to have her blanket to "protect" her from the sun.
Look out they spit!
Another nice thing about the park is they have this mini museum/display room. This is one large bone.
This is Allosaurus on the half shell
We even witnessed this dinosaur protecting her baby from the scary turkey. Because of coarse these Dino's are herbivores.

4th of July Weekend

We started the weekend by going to a firework show close by. They had lots to do before the fireworks started. We didn't get there too early though so we let our kids play on the bounce houses and that was all we had time for. Then we tried to find a place to sit and while we were looking we found some friends to sit with. Then for the 4th we were invited to go to my sisters house. It was a nice chance to visit with my side of the family. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

This year due to lifting the ban on aerial fireworks these were going off everywhere. Even my brother got a box of them and set them off.

Manti Pageant 2011

So we went to the pageant again this year and this year both kids did great. Well except that part where we bought our son a camping bed and he refused to sleep in it. But no worries as long as daddy held him he was fine. Our daughter however fell asleep fairly quickly and slept in. We even had a hard core camping breakfast. You will just have to scroll through the pictures. You'll see how hard core we were.
A scene in the pageant where it talks about the pioneers experiences as they tried to find a place to establish Zion.
He fell asleep during the pageant. Did pretty good here and then woke up when we got back to camp.
She fell asleep but woke up while in the car. No worries though she fell asleep quickly once we got back and settled down.
Ya he woke up when I went to take a picture of them.
Yep my daughter asleep and my son not in his camping bed.
They even made a friend who came to say hi.
Hey don't judge the mosquitoes were eating us alive even with several bug repellents on. We decided to pack up, skip swimming and get breakfast inside somewhere.

Early Intervention

So my son is in Early Intervention to help me make sure that I am meeting his needs while I have been focused on my daughters speech. He barely qualified. He has blossomed so much in the last 6 months. He is more interactive and speaks a ton. Sometimes it is still hard to understand him but hey he is 2 and well within the normal range. One of the issues that he is working on is sensory. But they don't foresee him being in the program very long. He has come a long way and isn't quite so hyper-focused on things in his play that he actually lets us play with him now. He also will sing with the kids songs and a few songs from TV as well. I can't believe it the same little boy. I got him tested originally because I was afraid that I wasn't a very good judge of speech development because of my daughter. I thought she was fine and figured she would grow out of it. She might have but she has blossomed because I finally got the help I needed. I wanted to make sure my son got any help he might night rather than blowing it off until it was too late and started to influence problems with his development. According to their therapists neither one of them will need the next program or service offered because they have grown so much.

Below are pictures from an Early Intervention Picnic from back in June.

He saw a train that was going by right nest to the park.
