Due to unreasonably warm spring weather the kids felt they needed a day in the sprinklers. Of coarse since this day we have also have rain and snow. No sprinklers those days though.
So we got to learn a little about kindergarten and meet the teachers last month. At first when we got there she was "Shy". She held onto us for dear life. We promised her that she will see some of her friends from church. Once we were done with the opening ceremonies which really consisted of the Principal and PTA President talking to us. As well as filling out paperwork for them to know about our kid and a questionnaire to help them know where we are willing to volunteer at school. We were divided and sent to 3 different rooms. Then she saw a friend and was pretty social from then on. She loved to answer question whether or not the teacher asked a question or not. She informed the teacher that she knows how to read IHOP and other things that make her smart. I realized I forgot to put talkative on the paper when describing her personality. She is so excited and ready to go to school. I think she will be fine and she is pretty good at learning rules and loves to learn new things. She is growing up too fast for me.
So back in February I took the kids to a museum while my wife was at a baby shower. It was a lot of fun. I was expecting to see just dinosaurs so I was quite surprised to see a room at the beginning with all sorts of physics stuff.
It's hard to tell from the picture but the circular disk in the middle was spinning and you could put various objects on it and see what would happen. Personally I thought it was cool seeing the pool balls spinning on the disk.
Here is another one where you would push the buttons and it would show how the different parts of the leg are used to push the pedals of a bicycle. After spending some time in here we went to the regular part of the museum. It was fun walking around. I'm not sure how much the kids liked seeing the dinosaurs but they really liked the hands on stuff. Here you could build a dinosaur.
Then they had an area with a bunch of magnetic puzzle pieces.
This is were we spent most of our time. Water would flow down to a drain. There was a lot of sand in the play area that you could use to alter or stop the flow of water. My daughter worked on stopping the water while my son played with the little dinosaur toys.
Right before the exit they had an area where you could uncover dinosaur bones using small brushes.
So we haven't had much snow this winter yet. But January came and we finally got enough to build a snow sled hill for the kids. I say we but actually my husband did it this year and he always makes it better than me anyways. Here are a couple pictures and videos of the kids having fun.
They each took turns pushing the other one down the hill.
My Little Girl who would tell you she is no longer little turned 5 last month. She is growing up so fast. Having a birthday around Christmas I try to make sure that her day is always special. I haven't had a lot of energy lately so this year we got an Ice Cream cake which she was excited to pick out for herself. And we ordered pizza. My Sister came up with her family for my daughter birthday and so did Grandma and Grandpa. I am actually kicking myself for not getting pictures of her with them. I am not doing so good at picture taking at all right now.
Here she is with her brother who insists on helping her blow out the candles. She is always so sweet with him and will encourage him to be involved.
Gift from my sister and her family
Gift from Grandparents.
She also got her first friend party this year. She had an all girl party with friends from the ward. We started with a lunch of pizza, bread sticks and soda.
This was amusing. We told the girls they would get to decorate their own goody bags and they jumped up and down with excitement. I am glad I decided to let them do that and keep it cheep by using what I had rather than give then boring pre-made bags. After they were done we filled their bags with little party favors only girls could love.
Then they got to play pin the hair on Rapunzel. I stayed up late the night before drawing this and one braid. Then I had my husband get copies of the braid for each girl. Here is bald Rapunzel. This is how she looked when the girls got done with her. After everyone left she wanted a picture of her with the balloons that were left. We let each girl take a balloon home. Ya we had a lot. But what is a party without balloons. Now how do I get her to stop growing up........
Since this year Christmas landed on a Sunday we had the privilege of going to church for an hour Christmas morning. Which meant my kids got to wait till after church to open presents. It is nice to start the day learning and celebrating the life of him who we celebrate. I am so grateful for my Savior.
Here is our tree this year with the presents.
So I had to add this picture. My daughter got to pick a present for her brother this year and she did an awesome job thinking about what he would like. We went to Big Lots for cheap options and had a budget in mind. She saw this truck and just knew her brother would love it. He picked a magna-doodle for her but he seemed to want it more for himself since he is only 2 and giving presents is a little hard to understand. I love seeing how they progress each year.
My husband wanted knee pads this year so that when he worked on the roof or any hard surface he could comfortably kneel. He has already tried them out and loves them.
She got a lot of Disney Barbies this year.
He got Thomas Trackmaster sets and well I love his face in this picture.
