Temples, Grandparents and Another Month Older

We went to a Temple Open House last week. The Temple is beautiful.
After we went to the Temple Open House we went to visit my husbands Grandparents. Below is my daughter with her Great Grandpa who is letting her play with Great Grandma's combs.
Brushing her hair.

4 months old. Isn't he a cutie!

At his 4 month appointment he weighed 17 lbs even and was 26 1/2" tall. He is the size of a 6 month old and impressed the doctor with what he is already able to do. He is healthy and smart. Plus he is getting so very social these days. We love his smile and his personality is so fun.

Week in Review

Well last week we went to a birthday party, dinner with my husbands family, swimming and started to actively potty train our daughter. We have heard all sorts of things from her about where her feces should go. And with as straight a face as we can muster, because let's be honest in the moment it is a little funny, we tell her that poo poo does not go on Daddies tie or head or such. Our son has rolled from his back to his front. And today I got out the stuff to hack away at another tree that was in desperate need of pruning. Only one more tree to go. Although I am hoping that we can find a chain saw and just remove that tree altogether since it is tearing up the sidewalk and we would like to extend our driveway. But never fear we do plan to replace that tree in another part of our yard with a smaller and hopefully more useful or pretty tree. Projects never cease with this house. Below are just some fun pics.

Our daughter with her cousin trying to climb this tree.
They were unsuccessful, yet it is in the effort that you learn.
I really like this picture. She is easy to photograph.
Chasing the seagulls
or running to the splash pad at the park to get wet and cool off.
With a wet rag on his head to help him stay cool.
It was a very hot day.
OK this made me laugh and it is the tail end of it.
They did this for like5 minutes back and forth.

3 of the cutest people ever. I'm not at all biased or anything.
Me looking like a drowned rat with my daughter going around the lazy river.
This is my husband and daughter going down the slide at the pool. He is the loud one in a room where it seems no one else is making a sound. Sorry the video isn't too good it is on the phone since we forgot our other cameras.

Samba De Amigo is samba de awesome

I originally wrote this in March but for some reason I haven't posted it. So I thought I would post it now.

So a couple of weeks ago we received a copy of Samba De Amigo that I bought for $10 (score!) off of Amazon.com (it was the Deal of the Day.) So far it has been a lot of fun. It is a rhythm game for 1 or 2 players where you are "playing" the maracas. I have really enjoyed the different things that are in the game like the dance moves and the poses you have to strike. It also has a great list of songs (check here for a list and here to listen to some of the songs.) For the first 2 weeks I had "Jump in the line" going through my head almost nonstop.

Just look how much fun my nephews are having playing it.

As an additional note. The last few months when I see one of the nephews that is in the videos he asks if I brought the game because he wants to play it.

Fast Week!

In the last week we haven't done too much away from the house. We went to the park and played in sprinklers. Oh, my daughter informs me when I ask her what she wants to do that she wants to pee pee on her head. Trust me I am not teaching her that. Also this last week she now claps every time we take a bite and says" Good Job Mom/Dad." Apparently we clapped too much when she eats. What she comes up with shocks me daily. My son is getting more and more social everyday and laughs when daddy rubs sons hands on daddies face. See video below if the last statement made no sense to you. We have made bread twice and watered the garden. And I am still amazed after all that, how fast this week has gone. So here are some fun things below of the last week.

Below she is helping mommy roll out the bread dough before shaping it. She wanted to help so much I figured I would start the rolling and let her roll for a little bit. How could I pass up such a great photo moment.
Ironically or maybe not so ironically this is how daddy
got our baby girl to laugh at this age too.

Happy 4th of July and 3 month old pictures a little late.

So this year we went and visited with family and went to a balloon festival and pre-Parade show for the Fourth. We woke up at the early time of 5:30 AM so that we could get there in time to watch the balloons launch. That is early to begin with and with 2 children not much better. And since the last time I blogged my baby boy turned 3 months old. I can't believe how big he is getting.

So here my daughter is sharing her breakfast with her cousin. They give so much food there was no way that she would have eaten it all by herself.
Here are all the kids waiting for the parade to begin. And so not cooperating in sitting still for the picture. But I guess that what you get when the oldest is 8.
Our little family. Oh and I have to toot my own horn for a second because I am excited that it turned out so well. But the headband and flower barrette I made myself last week. The headband is crocheted and I have never been able to follow a pattern before and have it turn out. So when the headband worked out I was very excited.
My daughter pointing to the balloons in the sky trying to show her cousin.
Although he isn't smiling below I just thought that this looked very peaceful.
After we left the parade since mommy and the kids were very done; especially when the fire trucks came by with their horns, we thought that we would visit my husband Grandma. She seemed to enjoy holding the little man.
And well this picture below is what it looks like when your little girl is tired and had a very busy day even with a nap. Oh ya and when Daddy says there are no more sparklers.
These pictures below are the pictures I took of my son to show how handsome he is at 3 months old. Also there are a few pictures with my little girl as when because she loves to take pictures with her brother.
I had to add this one because they were holding hands and I thought it was very sweet.

What has happened in the last week?

OK so this week my son rolled. The first time he did it and I missed it. The second time I missed it. The third time I caught the last half of it. And the fourth time I finally got it on video. How is it that you can turn your head for a second and miss things? Especially since you try to capture it on video and well the first time trying to record, nothing. The second time nothing, but a disgruntled baby and the third time it takes 2 minutes. Seriously the Heavens should open and announce "Get the camera, Don't turn your head and when you put the baby down, he's gonna do something great." I know maybe that is a little much. But I think there are many moms out there that wish they could truly catch the first on video. As parents you just get excited, and don't want to miss a second. So below is the fourth try. I hope you enjoy. Like I said it took 2 minutes for it to happen so feel free to skip to the end. More precisely the last 1/2 a minute. Sorry editing is not my strong suit. And yes that is Dora playing in the background, my daughter's current favorite movie for the week.

The other funny thing is that I have a daughter with girl power written all over her personality. I call her my Tom boy Princess. She loves all girl things but is totally not afraid to get dirty or take care of things herself. We got visited by flying ants a few days ago and I was killing them all day and had my husband call the Exterminator. At one point my daughter runs to the bathroom to get tissue. Since my daughter loves to blow her own nose I thought nothing of it. Next thing I know she using the tissue to try and kill the ants herself. Wondering what she is doing I investigate. My daughter with her amazing eye sight who doesn't miss a thing helped me find about 8 flying ants which we killed. It makes me laugh because this is the same girl who sees a spider and before we can take care of it for her she say a mocking Ahhh! and stomps on the spider. No fear of bugs yet. May it stay that way.

Fathers Day!

This Father's Day we got to hold our own sacrament meeting by permission of our Bishop. That was a sweet experience for us. We watched Elder Hollands talk from the last conference and really felt the spirit strong from his testimony of the Savior. Then we had some BBQ Turkey for lunch at my husbands request. After which we called my Father and wished him a Happy Fathers Day. Then for dinner we headed to my in laws house to enjoy a dinner with my husbands family. Below is a 3 generation picture of my husband with his Dad and our son. They all share the same middle name which was originally inherited from my husbands Grandfather. I am so glad that they have this bond. I know that my son has great examples in all of these men that have preceded him. They all have shown great love for their families as well as love for their Father in Heaven. If he can grow to be like any of these men he will be a great man.

I also wanted to say how grateful I am for my own Father. I have learned a great deal about the Savior from him. I have also learned a lot about what it means to love from him. I hope that I can pass these lessons onto my children.

I am truly lucky to have all the great men in my life from good Fathers, a wonderful husband and inspiring brothers. They have all been there in different ways teaching me how to be a better person.

I am also truly thankful for a Father in Heaven who has been patient with me through my weaknesses. He has helped me avoid many obstacles in my life and has helped me navigate through difficult circumstances. I know he lives. I know that he sent his son to atone for my sins and I know that someday if I live as he would have me live that I will return to him again. I long for that day and truly hope to make him proud of me.
